The start of the Drop Cloth Collection
What started as a necessary step to find a surface to paint on quickly turned into my preferred method of creating. I was in my studio in need of some creative time for myself, but unable to get to the store. When in doubt, use what you have! I cut my drop cloth into small pieces and began gesso-ing. The primer soaked into the canvas so quickly that I had to apply four layers before I felt confident. What came next was even more exciting, experimental, and outside of all art boxes. My drop cloth paintings have become familiar and warm and the only piece of canvas that I use in the studio. They have given me permission to slow down and make art for myself. Enjoy a few images below to give you a small glimpse into my process.
